A costume can tell a story all its own. Art can take on a whole new life when one wears it. Many historical garments were made with the individual in mind. In contrast to our mass-produced clothing of today, tailored and fitted clothing, created for the wearer, reduces the amount of waste and could be altered to continue to fit the individual through body changes. The patterns from the past allow for ways to add to a person’s story. By creating a blend of historical and contemporary ideas, we can see our own stories differently. Using personality surveys to better understand the people around me, I have designed a costume that attempts to equally portray each person's individuality.
